Greenwich Squash won its first FairWest Cup and its first national middle school championship during the 2025-26 season.

The high school boys' team went undefeated in the regular season, winning 54 of 55 individual matches before beating Rye High School in the FairWest Cup championship match, Greenwich Free Press reported. The team also competed in Division II at the U.S. Squash National High School Championships for the first time.

The FairWest Public School Squash Association, which calls itself the largest public school squash league in the country, included roughly 500 high school players and 200 elementary and middle schoolers across Fairfield County, Westchester County and surrounding areas during the 2025-26 season.

The middle school squad matched that run in February 2026, capturing the Division II title at the U.S. Middle School Team Squash Championships at the Arlen Specter Center in Philadelphia. Greenwich entered as the No. 1 seed and outlasted 15 other teams in the bracket, according to the Greenwich Sentinel.

On the road to the final, Greenwich defeated Brunswick School's B team 4-1, Greens Farms Academy 3-2 and The Haverford School 4-1, Patch reported. In the championship match against The Shipley School, the teams split the first four matches before Arjun Ankalkoti secured the deciding win.

The championship roster drew from two Greenwich middle schools: Aiden Anderson Rahimtula, David Anderson Rahimtula, Ankalkoti and Keegan Hart from Eastern Middle School, and Ryan Chass and Brett Lin from Western Middle School. Coach Elliot Ridge of MSquash led the team.

Program directors Cora Towle and David Chass noted the Division II title is Greenwich Squash's fourth national championship overall. Eastern Middle School won a Division II title in 2012 before the middle schools combined their programs. The high school boys won a Division IV championship in 2024, and the girls took a Division IV title in 2019.

Several players earned individual recognition. Siblings Mariam Fahimi and Sebastien Fahimi received U.S. Squash All-American Awards, the organization's highest honor for junior players. Mariam Fahimi, a 2026 Greenwich High School graduate, will play for Colby College's varsity women's squash team this season.

Greenwich Squash is a parent-volunteer-led program that promotes squash in the town's public schools. As the 2026-27 season gets underway, program director David Chass is looking to build on the breakthrough year.

"It was a season we had been targeting for several years and it did not disappoint," Chass said Oct. 7. "As we begin the new season, our challenge now is to maintain the program's high level of success."
