The Glenville Volunteer Fire Company will hold a public remembrance ceremony on Friday, Sept. 11, marking 25 years since the 2001 terror attacks.
The ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. at the World Trade Center steel monument outside the Glenville Firehouse, 266 Glenville Road, according to Patch. Fire department members will form up at 6 p.m. in Class A uniforms. The public is welcome to attend.
The fire company described the event as its annual remembrance in a July 25 Instagram post.
The WTC steel monument at the firehouse serves as the ceremony's centerpiece, though the fire company has not publicly detailed when or how the steel was acquired.
Cos Cob Park ceremony also planned
Greenwich will also hold its annual town-wide remembrance at the 9/11 memorial in Cos Cob Park on Sept. 11. A start time for the Cos Cob ceremony has not been announced.
The Cos Cob Park memorial, designed by Charles Hilton Architects for the Greenwich Community Project Fund, features twin tower structures standing 12 feet tall on a hillside overlooking Indian Harbor.
Last year's ceremony at the park marked the 24th anniversary, according to the Greenwich Sentinel.
