Eight free Friday afternoon concerts are coming to Christ Church Greenwich starting Sept. 4, as the Concert and Cake series launches its 2026-27 season with performances spanning piano, flute, voice and jazz.
Every concert begins at 1:30 p.m. at the church, 254 E. Putnam Ave. No tickets, registration or reservations are needed.
The season opener features flutist Alexa Cervantes and pianist Elisabeth Tomczyk in a chamber music program. Pianist Randall Atcheson follows with a solo recital on Friday, Oct. 2.
On Friday, Nov. 6, pianist Naomi Onda and vocalist Yoppi Watanabe perform together as the duo WOWNY. Onda also serves as assistant artistic director of Concert and Cake.
Founder and artistic director Rebecca J. Carda Leigh, a concert pianist who has toured globally, takes the stage herself on Friday, Dec. 4, closing the fall half of the season.
After a January pause, the series resumes Friday, Feb. 5, 2027, with pianist Benjamin Steinhardt. The Joe Corsello Trio brings the season's only jazz program on Friday, March 5, 2027. Carda Leigh returns for a second solo piano concert on Friday, April 2, 2027, and Onda closes the season on Friday, May 7, 2027.
The 1:30 p.m. Friday start time sets Concert and Cake apart from evening arts programming, making it accessible to residents with flexible daytime schedules. The series is sponsored by Carda Leigh and generally falls on the first Friday of each month, according to the Greenwich Sentinel.
