If you're planning to spend the weekend bargain hunting downtown, Greenwich officials say you're good to go.

Before the busiest shopping days of Sidewalk Sales Days, firefighters and Department of Public Works crews walked Greenwich Avenue on Friday, July 10, inspecting nearly 80 vendor tents to make sure shoppers can browse safely.

Crews checked tents along Greenwich Avenue, Putnam Avenue, and surrounding side streets for fire safety and accessibility. According to the DPW, no violations were reported, and officials thanked vendors for their cooperation.

With thousands of people expected downtown this weekend, the inspection helps ensure:

  • Tents don't block sidewalks or emergency access.
  • Vendors meet fire safety requirements.
  • Shoppers can move safely through the event.

The Greenwich Chamber of Commerce's Sidewalk Sales Days continue through Sunday, July 12, rain or shine.

Hours:

  • Saturday: 9:30 a.m.–6 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Don't miss the Non-Storefront Vendor Village outside the Wallace Center at 299 Greenwich Ave. and on the Board of Education lawn, where local Greenwich businesses are offering additional deals.

Residents who notice a safety concern during the event can contact the Greenwich Fire Department or Department of Public Works through the town's main switchboard at 203-622-7700.
