Thousands of shoppers are about to descend on Greenwich Avenue, and the town wants drivers to know: don't block the accessible aisles.

The Greenwich Department of Public Works posted a parking advisory Wednesday, July 8, reminding drivers heading to the annual Sidewalk Sales Days to stick to marked spaces, keep accessible parking aisles clear, and pay meters through the ParkMobile app.

The guidance comes as nearly 80 retailers and businesses, according to the Greenwich Free Press, prepare to line Greenwich Avenue and surrounding side streets for the four-day shopping event. The Greenwich Chamber of Commerce organizes the sale, which runs Thursday, July 9, through Sunday, July 12.

What the DPW wants drivers to know

Greenwich Public Works laid out three rules in its July 8 post on X:

  • Park only in marked parking spaces.
  • Leave accessible parking access aisles clear.
  • Use the ParkMobile app for metered spots.

The advisory specifically highlights accessible parking aisles, which can be blocked during high-traffic events on the Avenue.

Where to park

Drivers who skip the meters have garage options. The Pickwick Plaza garages offer two locations: one at 200 Greenwich Avenue with an entrance on West Elm Street, and another at 1 Pickwick Plaza off East Putnam Avenue, adjacent to Sotheby's Realty. Greenwich municipal lots and nearby street parking are also available, according to the Chamber's event announcement.

Hours

The sale runs Thursday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine.

What's new this year

The 2026 edition introduces several changes. Registered participants may set up their sale displays inside or outside their stores. The Chamber is also expanding its Non-Storefront Vendor Village across two spots: in front of the Wallace Center at 299 Greenwich Avenue, and on the Board of Education lawn directly across the street.

Sunday, July 12, brings a new Nonprofit Village on the Wallace Center lawn, a first for the event according to the Chamber, giving local organizations a dedicated showcase alongside the Vendor Village.

The DPW recommends downloading ParkMobile before arriving to speed up the parking process on busy blocks.
