After more than three decades in business, Hopscotch Salon is still winning over Greenwich clients.
The Old Greenwich salon earned five honors in the annual Best of Greenwich and Best of the Gold Coast competitions, owner Hisao Oe confirmed Thursday.
Hopscotch took home four Best of Greenwich awards:
- Best Blowout
- Best Color
- Best Makeup Application
- Best Women’s Styling/Salon
The salon also won Best Makeup Application in the Best of the Gold Coast competition.
“These awards belong to our incredible staff and our fiercely loyal clientele,” Oe said. “To receive this level of recognition again after 33 years is an incredible honor.”
A Greenwich institution
Oe opened Hopscotch on Mason Street in 1993 before moving the salon to Railroad Avenue in 2003. The business relocated again in 2019 to the Hyatt Regency Greenwich after the Greenwich Plaza redevelopment displaced longtime Railroad Avenue tenants.
For some clients, the salon’s location has changed, but the relationship has stayed the same.
Laurie Nelson of Cos Cob was Hopscotch’s first customer in 1993 and followed Oe through every move, including being the first client through the doors at the Hyatt location.
“I was there for the ribbon cutting,” Nelson said in 2019. “I’ve watched their four sons grow up.”
Today, Hopscotch operates inside the hotel’s Garden Court atrium, surrounded by gardens, a café and a library.
Oe has credited the salon’s staff with helping attract a wider range of clients, including younger customers from Stamford’s Harbor Point neighborhood.
Hopscotch Salon is located at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich, 1800 E. Putnam Ave., Old Greenwich.
