Adult registration for the Greenwich Alliance for Education's 16th annual Turkey Trot costs $40 through Saturday, Oct. 31, according to the Alliance's event page.

The price jumps to $50 on Nov. 1 and $55 on race day. The 5K sold out last year.

The race is set for Saturday, Nov. 28, at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park, 100 Arch Street, with a 5K run, a 1-mile walk and a Mini-Trot for children ages 3 to 5. The course is a flat loop through Bruce Park. The Mini-Trot begins at 9 a.m., the 1-mile walk starts at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K at 10 a.m., according to Patch.

Registration for children ages 6 to 12 is $20. The Mini-Trot is also $20, according to Patch. A virtual 5K option costs $25 but does not include a T-shirt or medal. All listed prices exclude registration fees.

This year's race coincides with the Alliance's 20th anniversary. The nonprofit serves as the education foundation for Greenwich Public Schools, funding programs including Reaching Out Grants for school innovation, Tuning In To Music for free instrumental lessons, the AVID SUCCESS program and an eighth-grade Capstone Experience trip to Washington, D.C.

Executive Director Julie Faryniarz called the Turkey Trot "a wonderful reflection of what makes Greenwich such a special community" in a statement, adding that every registration and sponsorship helps the Alliance continue its work supporting public school students.

Schools can compete for trophies through the Run for Your School competition, which recognizes Greenwich schools with the highest participation percentage and the largest number of runners. The school competition closes Thursday, Nov. 26.

Participants who register by Sunday, Nov. 8, are guaranteed a race T-shirt, provided they pick it up by 9 a.m. on race day. Pre-race bib pickup runs Nov. 23 and Nov. 24 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at Coffee for Good, and Friday, Nov. 27, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Cadillac of Greenwich.

Volunteers are needed Nov. 27 and Nov. 28 for course marshaling, check-in and setup. Community service credit is available. Contact Julie Faryniarz at [email protected] for details.
