Greenwich voters handed Democrats wins in most major races on the Nov. 3 ballot, according to preliminary, unofficial results from the Connecticut Secretary of the State compiled by Patch.
The numbers below reflect Greenwich votes only. Several races span multiple towns, so districtwide totals differ. As we reported Nov. 4, Democrat Jill Oberlander won the 36th Senate District seat, becoming only the second Democrat to capture that seat since the 1930s, according to Patch.
All results remained unofficial as of Nov. 5. Official results are published approximately one day after tallies are complete, in conjunction with the Office of the Town Clerk, according to Patch.
Governor and lieutenant governor
Gov. Ned Lamont and Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz collected 13,545 votes on the Democratic line and 257 on the Working Families Party line in Greenwich. Republican Ryan Fazio and Matt Corey received 10,432 on the Republican line and 433 on the Independent line.
U.S. House, 4th District
Rep. Jim Himes, Democrat, earned 14,764 votes in Greenwich. Republican Michael Ted Goldstein received 9,447. Independent Benjamin Wesley drew 323.
State Senate, 36th District
Oberlander received 13,228 votes on the Democratic line in Greenwich. Republican Joe Kelly received 10,842 on the Republican line and 450 on the Independent line. Districtwide, which includes portions of Stamford and New Canaan, Oberlander tallied 22,896 votes to Kelly's 18,761, according to Patch.
Kelly, who has served on the Representative Town Meeting (RTM), Board of Education and Board of Estimate and Taxation (BET), posted a video Nov. 4 from his boat on Long Island Sound thanking supporters, Patch reported.

Registrar of voters
Connecticut elects one Democratic and one Republican registrar. Democrat Mary Hegarty won with 13,091 votes. Republican Fred DeCaro III won with 10,499 on the Republican line and 423 on the Independent line.
Some candidates appeared on multiple ballot lines, which is why separate vote totals appear for the same person, Patch noted. Official certified results had not yet been published as of Nov. 5.
