The owner of STEAM now operates two Greenwich restaurants after opening Lunar, a Chinese eatery at 420 West Putnam Ave. in the former Panda Pavilion space.

Bill Xia also owns STEAM on Greenwich Avenue. His new restaurant, named for the Chinese lunar calendar, focuses on traditional Chinese cooking, according to the restaurant's website.

The menu features Peking duck, dim sum, hot pot and handmade xiaolongbao, the soup dumplings filled with brothy minced pork. CT Insider reported that Lunar also serves mapu tofu, Peking shredded pork and basil eggplant with chicken. The restaurant's dim sum chef has 20 years of experience preparing the dishes in China, CT Insider reported.

Xia has a broader restaurant background in the region. He was a longtime investor in the Peter Chang restaurant franchise and operated a Peter Chang location at Stamford Town Center that closed in 2025, according to CT Insider.

Lunar is open daily, CT Bites reported in its November 2026 roundup of Connecticut restaurant openings. Diners can check the restaurant's website for current hours and the full menu.
