A 2.5-mile walk through Tod's Point will raise money for families of first responders killed in the line of duty on Saturday, Nov. 7.
The Silver Shield Foundation hosts its 7th annual Greenwich Walk at Tod's Point Park, 7 Tod's Driftway, Old Greenwich, as Greenwich Free Press reported. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. The walk begins around 10 a.m., rain or shine.
Proceeds support the foundation's mission of providing educational support and services to the children and surviving spouses of police officers, firefighters and EMS members killed in the line of duty, according to the foundation's event page. The Silver Shield Foundation has been doing that work since 1982.
Walkers are asked to donate or raise a minimum of $100. Each participant receives a T-shirt. Pets are not allowed, per park rules.
The event has drawn growing support. The 5th annual walk drew more than 150 participants and raised $180,000, Greenwich Free Press reported ahead of the 2025 event.
Registration is open. Residents can sign up at silvershieldfoundation.org/greenwich-walk or contact KC Fuchs at the Silver Shield Foundation at 203-570-2848.
