Greenwich Public Schools students head back to class on Friday, Aug. 28, with an orientation and early-release format to ease into the new year.
The district's 2026-27 calendar runs through Tuesday, June 22, 2027, the last day for students, also an early release. Staff wrap up Wednesday, June 24. An asterisk on the calendar warns that weather closures could push the end date later.
Here are the dates Greenwich families need to mark:
Fall 2026
- Sept. 7 (Labor Day): Schools closed
- Sept. 21 (Yom Kippur): Schools closed
- Oct. 20 (Teacher Collaboration Day): Early release, all students
- Nov. 3 (Election Day): Schools closed
- Nov. 25–27 (Thanksgiving Recess): Schools closed
- Dec. 7 (Professional Learning Day / K-8 Conferences): Schools closed
- Dec. 8 (K-8 Conferences): Early release
Winter 2026-27
- Dec. 23–Jan. 1 (Holiday Recess): Classes resume Monday, Jan. 4, 2027
- Jan. 18 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day): Schools closed
- Feb. 8–12 (Winter Recess): Schools closed
- Feb. 15 (Presidents' Day): Schools closed
Spring 2027
- March 8 and March 17 (K-5 Conferences): Early release for K-5 students
- March 23 (Teacher Collaboration Day): Early release, all students
- March 26 (Good Friday): Schools closed
- April 12–16 (Spring Recess): Schools closed
- May 28: Early release
- May 31 (Memorial Day): Schools closed
End of year
- June 21: Last day for grades 6 and 9
- June 22: Last day for all students (early release)
- June 24: Last day for staff
The calendar also notes several observances when schools remain open: Rosh Hashanah (Sept. 11), Columbus Day (Oct. 12), Eid al-Fitr (March 10, 2027) and Eid al-Adha (May 17, 2027).
