For one weekend this summer, Greenwich Polo Club is trading its traditional Sunday polo routine for a Saturday showdown.
The East Coast Gold Cup championship final arrives Saturday, July 18, at Conyers Farm, closing out the club’s marquee summer tournament with a championship battle that promises to bring the season’s biggest crowd.
Gates open at 1 p.m., with the first chukker beginning at 3 p.m. and play expected to run until about 5 p.m.
The schedule change is a departure from Greenwich Polo Club’s usual Sunday matchups. The club has not announced a reason for the switch, but the message for fans is simple: the Gold Cup final is on Saturday.
The three-week tournament, presented by Interactive Brokers, features some of the top polo talent competing for one of the club’s most coveted titles. The action began July 5, with another preliminary match set for Sunday, July 12, before the championship finale.
Fans can choose their own polo experience, from bringing a blanket for general admission lawn seating to reserving umbrellas, bistro tables, SkyBoxes or private cabanas. The afternoon also includes food trucks, a cash bar, live music at the CTC&G Players’ Lounge and one of polo’s most popular traditions: halftime divot stomping, when spectators step onto the field to help repair the turf.
General admission tickets are available through Greenwich Polo Club. Children under 12 are admitted free. Parking is available separately.
The club’s summer schedule continues with:
- Sunday, Aug. 30 — East Coast Open, presented by Audi, begins
- Sunday, Sept. 6 — East Coast Open match
- Sunday, Sept. 13 — East Coast Open match
- Sept. 26–27 — CSI Greenwich, an Olympic-level CSI5* show jumping event
