Greenwich High School will host a two-day elite rugby clinic on Wednesday, July 23, and Thursday, July 24, led by USA Eagles Men's captain Ben Bonasso and Harvard Rugby head coach Colton Cariaga.

The clinic, organized by NXT Rugby, runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days and costs $249. It is open to high school and college-age players. Registration is available at www.nxt.rugby/camps.

Bonasso brings national-team credentials and a Connecticut connection. Born in Bridgeport, the 6-foot-4 backrow forward has earned 10 caps for the USA Eagles since debuting against Uruguay in October 2021, according to the USA Eagles roster. He plays for Old Glory DC in Major League Rugby.

"I had an opportunity like this when I was younger, and it changed everything for me," Bonasso said on the NXT Rugby website. "Training with elite coaches and international players showed me what it truly takes to reach the next level."

Cariaga became the first full-time head coach in Harvard Rugby's 150-year history when he took the job in summer 2023, as reported by the Goff Rugby Report. Before Cambridge, he compiled a 73-13 record across six seasons at Life University, winning four national championships: D1A 15s titles in 2018 and 2019, and D1 7s titles in 2022 and 2023, according to Life University athletics. He has also served as USA U23 7s head coach.

Participants will receive instruction in tackling, kicking, position-specific skills, rugby IQ, and athletic performance testing, all in small coaching groups, according to the Greenwich Free Press. College rugby scouts will attend to speak with players about what they look for at the next level.

Greenwich High School fields an active rugby program in Connecticut's D1 division. The Cardinals' boys varsity A team, coached by Jamie Everett, finished its 2026 spring season with captains Dylan Staton, Julen Guazo-Badiola, and Fred Shaw leading the squad.

The Greenwich clinic is the second NXT Rugby camp of summer 2026, following a session at Brown University in Providence, R.I., on July 16-17 that has already sold out.
