A family-run flower farm that grows dahlias, lisianthus, white sunflowers, and other hard-to-find varieties without synthetic chemicals has joined the Saturday Greenwich Farmers Market for the 2026 season.

New Petal Flower Farm, owned by Miranda Gould and based in Monroe, operates as a micro-farm that starts most of its flowers from seed under grow lights. The operation also rents a field in Easton. Instead of synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, the farm uses chicken manure, which is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, according to a Greenwich Free Press profile published Wednesday, July 23.

"We put one seed in a tray, and 10,000 trays later, here we are," said Allison, a farm employee who gave only her first name, at the Horseneck Lot booth on Saturday, July 11.

Allison said flowers are cut the day before market day and sold the following morning. Customers have reported bouquets lasting two weeks or more, she said. Even the wrapping paper and tape are recyclable.

The farm made its Greenwich debut during the winter at the Sam Bridge Nursery indoor market on North Street, which ran Saturdays from January 17 through May 2. The move to the outdoor Horseneck Lot market extends New Petal's local presence into the growing season.

Current summer bouquets feature snapdragons, cosmos, campanula, bellflower, zinnias, and Nicotiana, a flower that releases a sweet, jasmine-like fragrance at dusk. Gould also grows white sunflowers rather than the standard yellow-and-brown variety.

The Greenwich Farmers Market at Horseneck Lot, at the corner of Arch Street and Horseneck Lane near Exit 3 off I-95, operates Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. New Petal Flower Farm posts updates on Instagram at @newpetalflowerfarmct.
