Greenwich commuters should expect lane closures on I-95 starting Monday, Oct. 26, as crews begin cleaning bridge drainage systems along the highway.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced the work will run through Friday, Dec. 4, 2026, affecting both northbound and southbound lanes in Greenwich and 11 other towns. The project involves cleaning catch basins, known as scuppers, on I-95 bridges. Latec LLC and state forces are performing the work, according to the CTDOT advisory.
CTDOT's own advisory lists nighttime closures from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday nights through Friday mornings. Patch and CT Insider both reported daytime closures from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, also citing CTDOT. That gap matters for anyone planning a commute. Greenwich residents should check CTDOT's construction advisories page for the latest schedule before the work begins.
The closures will also affect Stamford, Norwalk, Darien, Westport, Fairfield, Bridgeport, Stratford, Milford, Orange, West Haven and New Haven.
CTDOT said no work will take place around state holidays. The agency said traffic control signs and crash units will guide drivers through the work zone. CTDOT also cautioned that weather or other conditions could force schedule changes and asked drivers to maintain safe speeds in work areas.
The project is listed under CTDOT number DOT01730554CN. Work is set to wrap up Dec. 4.
