The Greenwich Symphony Orchestra will bring four rising soloists and a full choral collaboration to the Performing Arts Center at Greenwich High School, with a five-concert season running from October through April.

Music Director Stuart Malina, who has led the orchestra since 2022, will conduct all five programs at 10 Hillside Road, the Greenwich Sentinel reported. The first two concerts (October and November) are Saturday-Sunday weekends, with Saturday performances at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. The final three concerts (January, February and April) shift to Friday-Saturday weekends.

The season opens Oct. 3-4 with cellist James Baik performing Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1. Baik, raised in Houston, won the 2023 Young Concert Artists International Auditions and gained recognition at the 2022 Queen Elisabeth Competition. He performs on a loaned G.B. Guadagnini cello. The program rounds out with Adolphus Hailstork's "An American Port of Call" and Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade."

Spanish-Dutch pianist Albert Cano-Smit returns to the GSO on Nov. 7-8 for Grieg's Piano Concerto, paired with Richard Strauss's "Don Juan" and Borodin's Symphony No. 2. Cano-Smit won the 2017 Naumburg Piano Competition and trained at The Juilliard School.

Two GSO debuts follow in the new year. Pianist William Yang, who won sixth prize at the 2025 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, performs Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 on Jan. 23-24. Violinist Aubree Oliverson takes the stage Feb. 27-28 for Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto. Critics have called her playing "powerful… brimming with confidence and joy."

The season closes April 3-4 with Verdi's Requiem, performed in collaboration with the Greenwich Choral Society. Founded in 1926, the choral group has performed at Carnegie Hall and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Dr. Christine Howlett, director of choral activities at Vassar College, leads the ensemble.

The orchestra promoted subscriptions on its Facebook page in late July, noting the season carries listeners from the October opener through the debuts of Yang and Oliverson to the choral finale.

Seating is unreserved. A five-concert subscription costs $220; a four-concert package is $190. Student subscriptions run $65. Individual tickets are $55 for adults and $20 for students. Tickets may be used for either performance of a given weekend.
