Greenwich will offer flu, COVID-19 and pneumonia vaccines at six clinics across town in October. The first session is Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Cohen Eastern Greenwich Civic Center in Old Greenwich.
Director of Health Caroline Calderone Baisley said in a town news release that seniors and residents with chronic conditions face the highest risk from influenza and should prioritize vaccination. Adults 65 and older are encouraged to get a COVID-19 shot this fall and a second dose six months later, because immunity fades over time.
The department has purchased a limited supply of the new Moderna mNEXSPIKE COVID-19 vaccine for the 2026–2027 season. A pneumococcal vaccine called PCV21, recommended for adults 50 and older, will also be available. RSV vaccine will not be offered at the clinics but can be obtained at local pharmacies.
Flu shots are open to anyone 9 and older. COVID-19 vaccines are available to those 12 and older. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Children under 9 are not eligible at the community clinics. Parents can schedule a flu shot through the Family Health clinic on the third floor of Town Hall by calling 203-622-7861.

Insurance and costs
Accepted plans include Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, traditional Medicare Part B, Medicare Advantage plans and UnitedHealthcare/Oxford. The department cannot accept Aetna, MagnaCare, ConnectiCare or Medicaid. Medicaid patients can call 203-622-3782 for assistance.
Residents without accepted insurance will pay out of pocket: $35 for a seasonal flu shot, $69 for the high-dose flu vaccine (age 65 and older), $295 for the PCV21 pneumonia vaccine and $205 for the Moderna mNEXSPIKE COVID-19 vaccine. Cash and checks payable to the Town of Greenwich are accepted. Credit cards are not.

The town's news release noted that immunization recommendations for the 2026–2027 respiratory virus season came from four physician organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Physicians, through the Vaccine Integrity Projects rather than from the CDC.
