First Selectman Fred Camillo proclaimed Sunday, Sept. 13, as Glenn and Denise Harvison Day in Greenwich, honoring the husband-and-wife pastors for 30 years leading Harvest Time Church.

The proclamation, posted on the town's website, traces the church's arc from its early days meeting at the Western Greenwich Civic Center to the purchase and construction of a permanent sanctuary at 1338 King Street. Camillo said the Harvisons shepherded the congregation through challenges during that transition, building a church that now draws worshippers from across the region.

The church started small.

Under the Harvisons' leadership, Harvest Time grew into the spiritual home of several thousand people in Greenwich and surrounding communities, according to the proclamation. More than a thousand people now gather for worship each week across multiple services held in multiple languages.

Glenn Harvison serves as lead pastor. Denise Harvison serves as children's pastor, according to the church's staff page. The proclamation referred to both as pastors and credited their vision, diligence, service and pastoral guidance with inspiring thousands of people to live out their faith in the community over the past three decades.

Camillo's proclamation urged Greenwich residents to thank the Harvisons for their contributions and for what they will continue to do for the community. No public celebration tied to the proclamation has been announced.

Harvest Time Church holds Sunday services at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at its King Street location. The church's fall programming is underway, with Life Groups having started Sept. 8 and a "Beyond Belief" course having begun Sept. 9. Residents can find more information at htchurch.com.
