A man wanted by police in Westchester County, New York, was arrested in Greenwich's Byram neighborhood on Sept. 7 after a pursuit that crossed the state line and ended on a dead-end street.

The Greenwich Police Department said the incident began in Westchester County, where the Greenburgh Police Department had been seeking the man. The vehicle then crossed into Connecticut, prompting a response from multiple law enforcement agencies.

Greenwich officers attempted to stop the vehicle after it entered town. The driver did not comply and continued onto Chestnut Street, where the road dead-ends, according to a Greenwich Police Department Facebook post. The suspect was taken into custody there without incident.

Officers recovered a large knife from inside the vehicle, the department said.

The pursuit brought an increased law enforcement presence to the Byram area as agencies worked to take the man into custody. Greenwich police said there is no threat to the public related to the incident.

The department did not release the suspect's name, age or the specific charges behind the Greenburgh warrant. No details about what prompted the original pursuit in Westchester County were disclosed.
