A Greenwich man in his 60s has been barred from a Mount Kisco, N.Y., park after he approached children at a ball field and was seen playing baseball with them, prompting a verbal altercation with parents and a police investigation.

Westchester County Police issued the man a formal trespass notice on Thursday, July 16, after he returned to Leonard Park. No criminal charges have been filed.

The investigation began Sunday, July 12, when officers responded to Leonard Park at approximately 12:13 p.m. Several parents reported a verbal altercation with the man, who had approached their children at the ball field, according to Westchester County Police.

Officers detained the man at the scene and interviewed those who interacted with him.

Police said no allegations were made that the man attempted to lure any child away from the ball field.

The man cooperated with investigators throughout the inquiry. He was interviewed at the park on July 12 and again on Monday, July 13, when he voluntarily went to the Mount Kisco precinct at detectives' request. When he returned to Leonard Park on July 16, police issued the formal trespass warning and he consented to a third interview.

Westchester County Police said his behavior on July 12 was "concerning," but added that no reported conduct on his part would result in a criminal charge. If he returns to the park, he will be charged with trespass.

The man has not been named because no criminal charges have been filed.

Leonard Park is located at 1 Wallace Drive in Mount Kisco.
