Sixty-two new businesses registered in Greenwich in August, according to the Connecticut Business Registry, a pace that nearly doubled neighboring Darien's 32 filings over the same period.

Management consulting firms led all categories with 10 of the 62 filings, Patch reported. Residential landlords and real estate and holding companies rounded out the top three categories, though exact counts for those two groups were not published.

All but one were LLCs.

The lone exception was a corporation. The pattern held in Darien, too, where Patch reported all but two of the town's 32 registrations organized as limited liability companies. Darien's top categories were residential landlords with six filings, followed by management consultants and software and IT firms.

Three consumer-facing businesses appeared among the Greenwich filings. KNIA registered as a quick-service restaurant. Command JBS filed as a recreation business. Golden Jigger registered as a catering company. No addresses, ownership details or opening timelines for any of the three have been made public, and none appear to have an active web presence.

The registrations arrive during a stretch of commercial activity in town. Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey, a Connecticut law firm with offices across the state, opened a new location on Field Point Road in August, according to Patch. The firm cited strong client demand in Greenwich for complex real estate, land use and business matters as the reason for the expansion.

A state registration does not mean a business is open to customers. Filings can precede or follow a launch by months, so some of the 62 names may not yet have storefronts or active operations.
