The Junior League of Greenwich is launching an initiative to find gathering spaces where Greenwich teens can connect and support each other's mental health.
President Sara Burns Davis, who took the helm of the nearly 500-member organization for the 2026-27 year, announced the effort alongside a new board of directors on Friday, Sept. 11, according to Patch.
The program, called the Third Space Coalition, aims to identify locations in Greenwich where teens can find peer support outside the home and school. No timeline or partners have been announced.
"Our Third Space Coalition will identify crucial spaces for Greenwich teens to connect and find support outside the home and school to promote mental health," Burns Davis said.
A second new committee is researching the possibility of a play space for families at Greenwich Point Park. That effort is also in an early research phase, with no design, funding or approval yet disclosed.
Returning programs
The league's existing lineup returns this year. Its PositivelyMe! program, which teaches confidence and decision-making skills to third-grade girls, ran for a 19th year in 2026, reaching 70 girls over two weekends in February and March. The Touch a Truck event drew more than 2,000 attendees to Greenwich Town Hall on May 17 for its own 19th year.
The organization will also hold its second annual All Service Day and continue its Women's Conference focused on health and wellness.
Burns Davis said in a July membership announcement on Patch that the league welcomed more than 40 new members during the 2025-26 year.
How to get involved
The league is accepting new members for 2026-27. A Coffee Chat open house is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at league headquarters, 231 E. Putnam Ave.
One-day new member classes are set for Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a two-day option on Wednesday, Oct. 14, and Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to noon. A second one-day class is listed for Jan. 30, 2027. All classes meet at 231 E. Putnam Ave.
The 2026-27 board includes Diana Urbaite-Sosonkina, Victoria Cappiali, Andrea Gordon, Amanda Schietzelt, Maha Karahamad, Barbara Bollmeyer, Jenifer Bloodsworth and Roli Agrawal, among others.
