Adopt-A-Dog's annual Puttin' On The Dog festival will double as a TV set on Sept. 27 when a comedy crew films scenes with shelter dogs at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park.

The 38th edition of the nonprofit's largest annual fundraiser runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that Sunday. Alongside dog competitions, food trucks and a lure course, a production team will shoot footage for "The Adoptables," a comedy series that parodies "The Real Housewives" with a cast of real shelter dogs, Greenwich Free Press reported.

Blake Sherwyn, a Greenwich native and producer who has volunteered at Adopt-A-Dog socializing dogs from difficult backgrounds, created the series. Actors and comedians with a combined social media following of more than 70 million voice the dogs. The series is expected to debut on YouTube and social media.

"It's a wonderful day of fun, but it also has a tremendous impact on our ability to care for dogs in need," Executive Director Chessy Santoro said.

Santoro said the festival brings together the nonprofit's dogs, supporters and the broader community. Proceeds fund rescue efforts, veterinary care, training and daily operations at Adopt-A-Dog's shelter in Armonk, New York.

The Sept. 27 festival will honor Frank J. Gaudio, president and CEO of First Bank of Greenwich, for his leadership and the bank's longstanding support of the nonprofit. The Greenwich Sentinel Foundation presented Gaudio with the Greenwich Sentinel Award in July, also naming First Bank of Greenwich as Best Community Bank.

Adoptable dogs will be on site to meet prospective families. Guests can bring their own friendly, leashed dogs.

Adult tickets cost $25, or $45 for two. Seniors and children over age five pay $10. Tickets are available at adoptadog.org and at the gate.
