Greenwich Catholic School is running out of room. The PreK-through-8th-grade school at 471 North St. announced Aug. 7 that only limited seats remain for the 2026-27 school year, with classes set to begin in weeks.
Families still weighing options can attend a Future Family Visit Day on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m., where they can tour the 38-acre campus and meet staff. Applications opened Nov. 6, 2025, with an early deadline of Jan. 1. Since then, remaining spots have been filled on a rolling basis. Families who enroll now must put down a $3,000 deposit, which is applied toward tuition.
What it costs
K-8 tuition for 2026-27 is $17,873 per student. PreK4 runs $18,066, and PreK3 half-day is $13,550. Families affiliated with a parish receive a $1,000 discount, and a $500 sibling discount applies for additional K-8 students. Financial aid is available through the Diocese of Bridgeport's Bishop Scholarship Fund, the GCS Tuition Assistance Committee Scholarship and the Bob and Lisa Rooney Family Scholarship Fund.
A shifting landscape
The announcement comes as Greenwich families navigate a changing mix of school options. Greenwich Public Schools enrollment has fallen steadily, dropping from 9,113 students in 2018 to 8,319 in 2025-26. The district projects another dip to 8,270 students in 2026-27.
"In 2018 we had 9,113 students and in 2025-26 we had 8,319 students and the projection next year is 8,270," Superintendent Toni Jones said in December 2025, when the Board of Education approved the district's $207 million budget. The enrollment decline led to a reduction of 11.5 full-time positions, according to Greenwich Free Press.
Meanwhile, new private entrants are joining the market. As we reported Aug. 9, Alpha School, an AI-driven campus with $65,000 tuition and no traditional teachers, is opening in town this fall. Greenwich Catholic, with its 11-to-1 student-teacher ratio and $17,873 price tag, occupies a different space for families seeking a faith-based K-8 education.
GCS operates under the Diocese of Bridgeport and welcomes families of all faiths, according to its admissions page.
The school's parish affiliation form deadline of Aug. 1 has passed, but families should contact admissions directly to confirm current requirements for late enrollees.
