First Selectman Fred Camillo designated Sept. 17 as 250th Constitution Day in Greenwich, urging residents to study the U.S. Constitution and reflect on American citizenship.

The proclamation, published on the town's website Wednesday, Sept. 16, aligns Greenwich with the national Constitution Week observance running through Sept. 23. The week marks the anniversary of the Constitution's signing on Sept. 17, 1787.

The "250th" label ties to the broader America 250 framework celebrating the nation's founding in 1776, not the Constitution's own 239th anniversary. The Sons of the American Revolution declared the years 2023 through 2033 the "Decade of the American Revolution" as part of that effort.

The proclamation described Greenwich as a patriotic community with roots predating the nation's founding. No specific Greenwich events or activities tied to Constitution Week were included in the announcement.

Constitution Week runs through Wednesday, Sept. 23.
